Marjorie Tressler of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania grew up in nearby Hagerstown, Maryland. While visiting the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, the seeds were planted to become an artist. Her natural abilities blossomed while attending the Schuler School of Fine Arts. Marjorie has studied with notable artists from coast to coast, for example Lester J. Stone of Blue Ridge, PA., Denise Burns of Catalina Island, CA., and Ron Reddick of Tucson, AZ.
Marjorie is an accomplished portrait painter, landscape painter and sculptor. Marjorie's portrait work was selected for a solo exhibition at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Her charcoal and pastel works have become favorites with many clients. She has won numerous awards for her artworks and selected for permanent display at several locations in the Hagerstown area: The Alexander House, The Coffman Home for Aging and Saint Andrews Methodist Church. One of Marjorie's 3x4 foot paintings was dedicated to the Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Waynesboro, PA.
Marjorie is an active member and past President of the Valley Art Association and The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. She is also a certified member of The Maryland Society of Portrait Painters based in Annapolis, Maryland and the CIVA. In addition, Marjorie is a juried member of The Oil Painters of America and was invited to join the prestigious Charcoal Club of Baltimore, Maryland. Her portrait work has also been selected as a part of the permanent collection of works at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.
